This course is designed to cover the 40-hour training requirement for two credential pathways, IBT (IBAO) and ABAT (QABA). You complete one integrated curriculum and receive two course completion certificates, one aligned to each pathway, to support your credential application.
Credentialing standards, fees, and documentation requirements are set by IBAO and QABA and may change. Course completion supports your application, it does not grant the credential by itself.

Collect and record data accurately, encompassing trial-based data, frequency, duration, ABC data, and task analysis data. Identify basic patterns in data and communicate progress clearly to your supervisor. Teach functional communication and adaptive skills across everyday routines and environments. Use proactive strategies to reduce problem behavior while prioritizing safety, dignity, and ethical practices. Collaborate effectively with caregivers, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to support consistency across settings, leveraging insights from psychology assessments.
Complete the required coursework to become an Autism Intervention Specialist, then meet QABA’s additional requirements and submit your application for BCBA-led ABA therapy or psychology assessments.
Each board has separate standards, fees, and documentation requirements for Autism Intervention Specialists. Certification is determined by the credentialing board, not solely by course completion, which may also include factors like BCBA-led ABA therapy and psychology assessments.

Yes. IBT (IBAO) and ABAT (QABA) are issued by different credentialing boards, so they have different application steps, supervision or fieldwork requirements, exams, fees, and renewal CEUs. Your 40-hour course supports both pathways, but you must meet each board’s requirements separately.
Yes. The course is designed for all candidates to complete the same board-approved coursework and skills training.
Yes. You can pursue IBT after ABAT. However, as of October 1, 2025, ABAT holders are not eligible for the IBT Addition route. Typically, you register as an IBT candidate, complete IBT requirements, and pass the IBT exam.
You have 6 months of access from the date of enrollment to complete the 40-hour coursework, download materials, and finish included assessments. Extensions may be requested in exceptional circumstances, subject to availability and administrative approval.
Yes. The coursework is designed to be completed within the 6-month access period. A recommended pace is 2 to 4 hours per week
